Try using lemon juice - it works with certain markers. A solution of vinegar and water may also clean it. Rubbing alcohol is effective as well. For all of these methods, be sure to use a non-scratching cloth to wipe the board surface. There are also commercially available cleaning solutions and cleaning wipes that clean the marker off and leave the board with a rejuvenated surface.
Well, one theory is that the chemicals contained in the whiteboard marker somehow reacts to the permanent marker, making it rub off, but it is not an excellent way to clean off permanent marker.

Yes, the ink from whiteboard markers (or dry erasemarkers) will not be absorbed by the plexiglass.

Whiteboard is one word when you are referring to the board you write on with dry erase marker, but I think it is two separate words when you are describing something else that is a board that is the color of white, but not the whiteboard you see in school.
Write with it and let it dry...it's permanent.
