You need a lawyer.
If you were driving without insurance, you were very likely driving illegally. This does not automatically put you At Fault or make you liable for damages, however. There is not enough information in the question to really approach the question to any more detail than to recommend you find legal representation, so that you don't get steamrolled in court for multiple thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. I realize that you may be thinking you can't afford a lawyer, but look at the big picture and the long term - what you really can't afford is a huge judgment against you in a court of law.
Your insurance company first, then, the police for a report.
Call them and their insurance company.
If you have the proper insurance or you were hit by someone you will surrender the car and the title to the insurance company and they will pay you the actual cash value of the car before it was hit.
If someone causes damages to your property, they are liable. This means, however that you have to deal with their insurance company directly, rather then your insurance company doing it for you.
You might want to be careful here. Some states have steep fines and worse for someone that drives without insurance.
get insurance
If you have liability for an accident, you will need to contact your insurance company. If you do not have liability insurance, you may need to pay for the accident out of pocket.
I would call the person who hit you. Tell them you are calling your insurance company about it and tell them they need to call their insurance as well. That should start the process.
the insurance company!
Not to your home no, only to a reliable shop in the area where your car was hit/damaged, usually approved by your insurance company.
Once you decided to not go through insurance and not file a police report, you left yourself open for paying for your own repairs. Sorry you learned such a hard lesson. Never have an accident and not get a police report. The insurance company is not going to pay out based on someone's word. A police report is needed to file a claim.
Usually one cannot sue their own company if the accident was a fault of their own. If someone else hit you and caused you to hit the pole, the other person's insurance would be liable.
