You should probably go places with her so it won't feel that awkward. I'm a girl and my best friend is a guy. I used to get nervous around him and we wouldn't really talk but since I moved and sometimes visit where I uses to live, we hang out at least once when I visit and I don't get nervous anymore. He asked me out but I can't date and I think I'm way too young to date anyway. (he asked me out last year which was when we were in fifth grade) we at great friends though. I know you probably didn't really care to hear that but that's how I got over my nervousness of talking to him and because of how understanding he was when we couldn't go out, because we are still really great friends today since most people aren't really friends I the other cant dates them
