If you hear a smoke alarm, everyone inside the building should be evacuated to a safe area (assembly point). If smoke or a fire is present, the emergency services should be alerted using a mobile phone or the neighbours telephone. No one should enter the building to collect valuables or pets. This is the job of the fire crew. If you are trapped inside the building call for help out of a window. This will attract attention and you will be helped. If you are trapped in a room, always check the temperature of the door handle before opening the door, as the fire could be on the other side. If the door handle is hot, place a fabric in the gap between the door and the floor at the bottom to prevent smoke from entering. If the door handle is cold, proceed out of the room, looking out for the fire. Keep low, as the smoke will rise, stopping you from inhaling smoke. Leave the building as soon as possible.
It is always good to set out an assembly point with your family in case of any fires.
NEVER RISK YOUR LIFE TO COLLECT ANY VALUABLES OR PETS AND CALL 911/999 IMMEDIATELY!
if you hear a fire alarm in your house you find your way to the closest door outta there and make sure to keep close to the floor like the saying stop drop and roll avoiding getting smoke in your lungs once youre outside make sure everyone that was in the building is outside and go wake the neighbours and call the fire department with their phone
If you hear a smoke alarm in your house you should get out and call the fire department.
If you own, or even rent your home, you will want to invest in an Ademco smoke detector. Even if you think that nothing will happen to your house, it is better to be safe than to have everything taken away from you. The smoke detector can be placed all through the house so that every member will be able to hear the alarm if smoke is detected. A good smoke alarm could save the lives of your family if a fire were to occur.

Smoke alarms are designed to be loud in order to alert people to potential danger and ensure they hear the alarm even if they are asleep or in another part of the house. While the high decibel level may be uncomfortable or even painful, it is necessary to grab attention and prompt immediate action in case of a fire. The priority is to ensure people's safety by making sure they can hear the alarm even in noisy or chaotic situations.
The smoke/fire alarm will go off or you will see smoke. You could also see the fire.
I would not install a smoke alarm, in the kitchen.
There are no good alternatives to having smoke alarms in your house. A good supplement to the smoke detector, however, would be a Carbon Monoxide alarm.
Any type of smoke, steam or particles denser than air will set off a smoke alarm. This means that smoke emitted from the incense will set off a smoke alarm when in range of the detector.

Actually steam can set it off. According to the USFA website, you should not mount a smoke alarm within 3 feet of a bathroom or kitchen to avoid this possibility. Apparently, smoke alarms tend to be more sensitive when the house is colder, so an open window and a smoke alarm close to the bathroom could result in it going off. http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/downloads/pyfff/smkalarm.html
A smoke detector is designed to activate an alarm if smoke is detected. It does not matter if the unit is hard wired or battery operated. This is its job. In a hard wired system you can interconnect the alarms if a three wire is used between units. The black and white wires are used to power the unit and the third red wire can be inter connected to the alarms in each one of the other detectors in the same system. Hence if one smoke detector alarm trips, the horn alarms in all of the other detectors will go in to an alarm state. This is a very good safety factor and units should be wired this way. For example if a detector trips in the basement at night and there are closed doors between floors you might not hear the alarm in your upstairs bedroom. If all of the alarms sound upstairs and down no matter which unit tripped, you are bound to hear them, no matter what part of the house you are in.
I don't know... oh! You have to take out battery... blah blah blah... then change it... blah blah blah... then change every other one in house just in case... blah blah blah... the end
About 50,000 (140 a day) of these are in the home and kill nearly 500 and injure over 11,000, many which could have been prevented if people had an early warning and were able to get out in time. In fact you are twice as likely to die in a house fire that has no smoke alarm than a house that does.
