Like most teenage guys, your friend is unwilling to commit to you. He's trying to soften this answer by saying he doesn't want to ruin your friendship. This is probably true - he likes you as a friend, you have shared many good memories together.. but it still means that friendship is all he wants. If he really liked you, he would go out with you in a heart beat. Move on, find someone else who treats you like a princess, and show this guy friend of yours what an awesome girl he's missed out on
