Well, I would first check batteries. If that isn't the problem, then I would try to sync them with red buttons on Wiimote and Wii. Check when had you bought them if you have homebrew. If not, they might be broken.

If its on a charging console with the rechargeable battery it is probably overcharged if its battery is a normal battery then go to a game stop and get somebody to check it

Don't know if the 2 are connected but the remote not working anymore generally means that it needs the battery replacing, the lift gate (Auto ?) needs a fuse (?)
some car alarms have a backup battery in them. thses batteries if worn out can stop the alarm working.also sometimes the battery in the remote needs replacing to work
Remotes for automobiles can stop working for a variety of reasons. First check the battery, then reprogram if this is not the answer. Check with a mercury dealership to have the remote evaluated.
I didn't find eny replicable battery specially for it but if you know the type of the battery you could find and repair it your self.
The batteris in both the remotes could have 'died' simyltaneously - or - check the fuse for the remote entry lock/unlock system to see if the fuse has blown.
Yes, the remote wire that hooks up to the stereo tells the amp to turn on, it works like a switch. If that is hooked up properly check your ground.
