Hello, there are a few different treatments than can be used to help a sick fish back to recovery. First you have got to find out if its bacteria, fungus, stress or anything else really. A general medication that covers most is called a 'broad spectrum' medication which is just like a multivitamin and antiseptic for ur fish. Im pretty sure it can also be called multi cure too. Otherwise if u have a fungal issue u can get medications just for that. Basically after treating ur fish for the recommened time you will have to give ur tank or bowl a waterchange to resore the water to its normal state, and dont mix medications unless u are advised too. So the best bet would be to go into ur local aquarium and explain the symptoms and they will be able to point u in the right direction. I hope this helps :oD

∙ 12y agoIt depends.. , well if it has a wound or deep punctured cut there is not much you can do. Simply take the fish to a doctor that deals with animals.
The main thing to do is to look after the fishes water carefully and keep impurities down. Keep the filter running and add 1 level teaspoonfull of sea salt per gallon of water. This will help stop fungus from forming and the fish should start to heal. At each water change remember to replace the lost salt. Keep up the salt treatment until you can see that the damage is healing. Then you can stop adding the salt and with each water change the salt will be reduced and the fish will be back in fresh water.

Ask yourself, what is 'sick'; what are the fish's symptoms? Based on its symptoms, look up different diseases. Then try to find the most likely cause based on those symptoms. After that, look up treatment for that disease or condition, and follow the treatment outline.

Many fish can heal provided you take extra care to keep the water clean, use the recommended dosage of aquarium salt listed on the packaging, and adding Melafix to your water per it's instructions, your fish may get better.
