Doctors don't tighten casts, they wrap them gently around the broken area. They also give pain killers so it doesn't hurt much.
A fiberglass wrist cast typically weighs around 0.5-1 pound, depending on the size and thickness of the cast.

No... it shouldn't hurt, much of my friends have broken their wrists and I haven't heard them complaining that it hurts once the cast was removed...SV
free - in the better part of north America anyways...
To regain movement in a stiff wrist after a cast comes off, gentle exercises like wrist circles, wrist flexion and extension stretches, and wrist rotations can help. Gradually increase the intensity of exercises as the wrist becomes less stiff, but avoid overexertion to prevent injury. It may also be helpful to consult with a physical therapist for a tailored rehabilitation plan.
Question for you? Did you do any hand and wrist therapy exercises following the removal of the cast? This is usually recommended, so as to get your flexibility/mobility back in your hand & wrist. Ask your doctor who did the casting, to recommend a hand/wrist therapist. He may want to X-Ray your wrist first. Good Luck!! Take care.
Yes, since your wrist is one of the most delicate and used parts of your arm you must have a cast so you don't 'accidently' use it and hurt it or reinjure it.
A hurt wrist indicates that the wrist is sprained, bruised or fractured. This renders it from picking up heavy objects, sometimes any kind of weight. The wrist may need to be looked at a medical professional to be wrapped in a cast or prevented from worsening.
because it has been immobilized by a cast around it.
say it hurts whenever i bend it!
I do not know how doctors treat a broken wrist in this century, but when I broke my wrist in the late 1990's,the doctor just gave me an X-ray and put a cast on my arm. Unless your arm was infected, there is no need for a shot.
It take around 6 weeks in an orthopedic cast to recover properly from a broken leg. If a surgery is performed for a broken leg then too the recovery period is 6 weeks, but one can walk from almost the 3-4th day and put full weight on the leg.
