What do you do when you are ignored by family because you have chosen a different religion?

If you are no longer a minor then you have the freedom to choose what religious belief you prefer and it's a private matter and no one else's business including family. Try communicating with family and telling them that this is a road YOU must go down and that's what life is about. Ask them for the respect that you have given them. Even if you don't believe in their religion something like a special service is given before the Christmas Holidays just go out of respect for your family. If your family completely ignores you constantly then let them know by communicating you respect their religious beliefs and you expect it back and if respect is impossible on both sides then you don't feel welcome and will cease to visit family. Perhaps a few months of not seeing them will clear their head to the fact that religion is not meant to separate family, friends or spouses or put a division between parents and their children, but the right to have the freedom in what an individual belief system is. If you are a minor then unfortunately you will have difficulties and your parents will expect you to follow suit regarding their faith.
