to unlock challenge mode first complete the game the when u are on the world map pause the game and press L+R ( don't hold them) L+R ( don't hold them) then press xx yy. u will unlock challenge mode. on the world map u should now see a red arrow thing if a level has this on it then it has a secret challenge mode if not then no. the only difference is that when u play on a level u can't go back this is to make the game more like the original.
