Once you have the key to the Inspector's cottage , open the door and go upstairs. Click the peeling corner of the painting and you will find the Scream hidden under it. The rest is automatic.

When you find the painting in the Inspector's house, the upper right corner shows that it is loosely in the frame. Peel it back to find the Scream underneath.
In the Inspector's house, ignore the chest because there is no way to open it. Go to the painting on the second floor and peel back the corner.
The locked chest is just a distraction. The painting is on the second floor, disguised by the street artist's abstract work. (Peel back the corner.)
Find the brightly colored painting on the second floor, and peel back the loose corner. (Whoops! There go the lights!)
Use the key given to you by the museum curator, and enter the cottage. Peel back the corner of the painting, and you will get captured by the Black Widow, and taken to her underground lair.
It's in the inspector's house on the top floor. When you find the splatter paint painting peel back the corner and you'll find the scream! Good Luck! :)
On the second floor is an abstract painting. Pull the loose corner and it will peel away, revealing the stolen painting.
there is no curators house. if you're talking about the dectives house on counterfeit island, you don't open it. you peel the painting off the scream by a "slightly peeled corner".

After you finish the scooter chase and get the key from the curator, enter the Inspector's house in the Country Side. There is a new paiting on the second floor, and one corner is loose from the frame. Peel it back to find the stolen painting "The Scream".
