- There could be several reasons why your ex says he still loves you and suffers because he misses you: He may not have been ready to commit to steady dating or even marriage; he may be feeding you a line so he can keep in touch with if one of his other relationships breaks up. There are many more reasons, but the fact he is not coming back to you now is a red flag you should move on with your own life and get out with friends; have fun and start dating again as your ex may not be the right person for you and that special person you should be with is still in your future.
