If you love him and don't want him to go, try to figure out the root of the problem is and solve the problem. Right now what he is doing is trying to manipulate you with empty threats.
If you want him to go, give him an ultimatum, if he doesn't go along with the ultimatum change the locks or give him divorce papers.
