Ok I asked this question to give the answer lol
I've brought home many box turtles found on the country roads in Summer and one thing I've found that they absoulutely LOVE is tomatoes...
wanna laugh while your turtle eats? then cut a tomato in half and put it in the box juicy side up, if the turtle is anything like mine they'll bring their head up, twist, and dive into it AND will eat it from the inside out :O lol
Answergo to your local pet store they care special food for turtles such as turtle pellets, crickets, and dried shrimp.COMMENT:
I want to comment on the person who gave the answers above about the tomatoes. IT WORKS! I found a turtle on the side of the road today. I find many on my drives and usually take them to one of my clients houses that has a reservoir with a beautiful forest behind her house with moss, flowing waterfalls and rocks; however, this turtle really got my attention today. He was so inquisitive and didn't hide in his shell like others. I let him look out the window as we were driving and you could see his eyes move like humans as though he was taking everything in as we passed by. Where I found him was in the middle of a busy road. I read many comments about samonella and people voicing their opinions about putting them back but he would have ended up dead. For now he is at my house with a beautiful downsized set up like my clients backyard till I decide if I'm taking him to her house. Till then he is munching away at my home grown tomatoes. I've also thrown in some fresh basil leaves and green pepper. We'll see what he thinks of that and I'll post later. Thanks for sharing about the tomatoes.
turtles will eat anything from bugs to lettuce.
However, this does not mean you can feed your pet turtle anything, i.e. table scraps, and they do require a healthy, balanced, "turtle diet".
one thing i know they like for sure is green salad leaves
Grasshoppers, crickets, earthworms, etc. My boys found one in our yard - we feed it grasshoppers they catch. In the winter (no grasshoppers), we'll feed it crickets from the pet store.
Snails like grass leaves and they are also very partial to paper.
3 Feet = 1 Yard(s)
To begin with, the first one can be found in the virtual Build-A-Bear Workshop. The second can be found on the outside of the Pawsitively Green Center The third can be found on the outside of the Sportsplex. The fourth can be found inside the LumBear Yard. The final one can be found at the Entrance.
It could of but it can't eat the shell though so if you ever find the shell in the yard it ate the turtle most likely or some other predator ate it. But if you don't find the shell it's most likely it left. The dog could've also brung the whole turtle somewhere. Answer 2 no because you said the turtle got lost
what do you feed lizards like you find in the back yard i found one and i need to know what to feed it because i do not know what to feed it my cousin might know because she had one when she was little but i dought it because she never fed it.
3.
They will only is they are mad. Usually they will not come in your yard if you or another animal or person is in your yard. Though it is not reccommended you not feed coyotes then you WILL have a more likely chance of them coming in your yard.
Because there is an owl outside your yard every night. It is probably living nearby.
It depends on the type some like the painted turtle and other aquatic species are found in small ponds , lakes or marshes but if you are looking for land turtles (box turtles) then check in forests or your own back yard.
well it depends where you brought it from, if its a totally diffrent climiate then yes, if not try to put it away from roads or near the site where you got it
See if there is a hole under it....and they wouldn't lay eggs in your yard unless it was near water
