In terms of the light colour spectrum, yes. Red and green light mixed will produce a yellow light. Red and green paint however will create either brown or black.
This is only with light, if you shine red, blue and green ( the primary colours) at the same spot you will get white. But if you mix red, blue and yellow (the paint primary colours) you will get a brown, purpley colour.
Light pink
light brown

I am not exactly sure, but red and green paint together make brown.
yellow i think
Red rose petals reflect red light. It absorbs all other colors, including green and blue. Therfore it absorbs the green light and the petals appear black.
Things appear red because they absorb all wavelengths of visible light apart from red this will be reflected. If you only shine green light on the object it will all be absorbed and no light will be reflected so it will appear black.
Yellow. The light is 'additive' and not 'subtractive' like printed inks.
The red part of light can shine through a ruby.
The red light sails straight through the red filter unimpeded, and is then completely absorbed by the fabric. Since there's no green light floating around, there is no light at all to bounce off of the dress toward your eyes, and the dress appears black.
