Surprisingly, not much.

That is, all you have to do is to be yourself -- which is to say, you have to be willing to become the perfect ideal of your hopes, dreams and abilities, and you have to pledge your service in whatever you do to the eternal causes of "Life" and "Light", or "Balance" and "Compassion", if you're feeling a bit more ambitious.

Simply put, it's not what you do that makes you a wizard, but how you do it.

You can choose most any profession in the world and still be a wizard, but you have to choose to be a wizard as well. Being a wizard does not make your life any easier, on the contrary, it'll add many knots to your life's path.
