These are the seven steps to take to earn the Girl Scout Bronze Award for Girl Scouts of the USA:

4. Choose your Girl Scout Bronze Award project.
5. Make a plan.
6. Put your plan in motion.
7. Spread the word.
No. Under the current Girl Scout Bronze Award requirements (2012), you have to earn a Girl Scout Junior Journey before building your team and choosing a project.
Scholarships are available for Girl Scouts, but it is best if they have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. See Related Links for a link to Girl Scout scholarship information.
One the Cadette Girl Scout vest, the Bronze Award pin is worn to the right of the insignia tab. On the Cadette Girl Scout Sash, the Bronze Award pin is worn to the left of the Troop Numerals.
The highest award a Girl Scout member of Girl Scouts of the USA can earn is the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Girl Scout must be a Girl Scout Senior or Girl Scout Ambassador in order to work on the 7 steps required to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award.
Right now, you can either do it the old way (15 hours not including planning/research) or the new way (50 hours and a journey including planning/research). In a few years, only the latter will be accepted.
The highest award a Girl Scout may earn in Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) is the Girl Scout Gold Award. The highest award an adult in GSUSA may receive is the Thanks Badge. For each level there is an award. It starts with Juniors who earn the Girl Scout Bronze Award, then the Cadettes earn the Girl Scout Silver Award. Then the Seniors/Ambassadors may earn the Girl Scout Gold Award. The process is very long but you know you helped your community and maybe even the world!
My whole troop actually earned a Bronze Award. Here are some of the different things everyone did. 1) If you like sewing, you could make quilts or blankets and bring them to a shelter. 2) Animal shelters are always looking for donations. Organize a fundraiser to collect animal food, toys and the necessities (water dishes, brushes and combs, stuff to clean the poop, etc.) 3) My mom had a friend who runs an organization that delivers food and supplies for soldiers away from their homes. I made bags full of fun stuff like mini games and brain teasers. There is so much to do when you are working towards your Bronze Award. If you are stuck, don't be afraid to ask your Girl Scout leader.

For the GSUSA Bronze Award, you must be in grades 4 or 5 and a registered Girl Scout Junior. You must complete a Junior Journey. Then you start building your team, exploring your community, choosing your project, planning it, putting your plan in motion, and spreading the word about your project. There is a suggested minimum of 20 hours for the project.
Scholarships are available for Girl Scouts who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. Earning the Girl Scout Gold Award can also help when applying for other scholarships, especially those scholarships which are based on community service.
Girl Scout Awards are earned recognitions. Girl Scouts earn the awards by completing the requirements. Awards include the Girl Scout Badges; the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards; the Journey Awards, etc.
Each Girl Scout council has their own forms for the GS Gold Award. Usually a Girl Scout will attend a training which will help her learn how to fill out the forms and complete the requirements. Girl Scouts should also have an adviser for their Gold Award project and the adviser and/or troop leader should guide the Girl Scout through the whole process.
