Passive elements don't require power from the supply to produce its effect on a signal. They derive the power of the input signal to perform its action.

for example, a resistor doesn't require a separate supply to provide its action of resistance in a circuit.

Where as in active elements there should be a power source for its working. They require a supply for there working.

For instance, transistors - Only after biasing the transitor in required region of operation, its characteristics are applied on the signal. ie, for amplification, transistor require a source from where it can work in.

Network mainly contains two elements they are
1.active elements
2.passive elements

Active elements in a network means a source elements like ac,dc and battery.

passive elements in a network means non-source elements like resistance, inductance, capacitance.

What is an active electrical network?

The electrical network which has its own energy sources like current or voltage sources within the circuit is called as an active electrical network

What is linear bilateral active networks?

If I divide the term into words as (Passive + Linear + Bilateral ) Network then it would be easier to understand. 1st of all, Passive Network is a network that includes **passive electrical / electronic components. Then, Linear Network is consists of passive electrical / electronic components whose parameters such as resistance, capacitance or inductance are constant with respect to current or voltage and in such network each voltage or current source act independently of each other. After that, Bilateral Network is the network in which the magnitude of current remains the same when the voltage polarity is reversed. So, A Passive linear bilateral network includes passive components that exhibit linearity and at the same time magnitude of current is independent of the polarity of voltage. ** Passive electronic components are Resistor, Inductor or Capacitor, they by themselves are not capable of amplifying or processing an electrical signal.

What difference in electrical and electronic device?

A: The difference is PASSIVE / ACTIVE

Whether a capacitor is an active or a passive element?

Passive element. An active element is an element that can generate power. Capacitors can't generate power, hence they are passive elements.

electronic engg deals with the ic's ,active and passive elements and circuits and electrical power engg deals with the electric generation distibution and protection.

List two examples of categories for both passive and active network security attacks?

passive attacks : footprinting, trashing active attacks : sniffing, social engineering

What is active devices?

An active device amplifies the signal by some value - such as an active filter using an OPAMP. A passive device does not provide any amplification - such as a passive filter network of inductors and capacitors.

What are active elements in circuit?

A; Any components that provide gain/loss are active device resistors, capacitors are passive

Are capacitors and inductors active elements?

Capacitors and inductors are considered passive elements, not active elements, because capacitors and inductors do not supply or amplify energy. An example of an active element is a battery, which supplies energy to a circuit.

What is the difference between mechanical and electrical transducers?

The mechanical transducers are the mechanical elements that are used for converting one form of energy into other form that can be measured easily. Electrical transducers may be classified as active or passive. The active transducers generate electric current or voltage directly in response to stimulation

What stops the flow of electrons in a circuit?
