First, you need the bedding. When i used to have guinea-pigs, i put newspapers, lemon-smelling bedding, and then special straw for guinea-pigs. They also need a food bowl, and they looove dark places,so you can make a small house inside his cage, he/she will LOVE it. He will chew on it if its cardboard. They also need a water bottle.
My guinea-pig Daisy used to live in a closed terrace with he husband, Brownie. She had a table for herself, and a cage ontop of the table, where she slept. My mom made a shelf inside the cage, and she looooved that! Also, at nights, cover their cages with towels or something, they love it, they think its a dark, cozy tunnel. They also need fresh greens EVERY day. Ex; green apples, cucumber peels. They also loved the special seeds, and carrots. Finally, they need special dried grass, Daisy & Brownie loved it!
*they also need a constant source of vitamin C for they do not make their own. They also need things to chew on in their cage because their teeth keep growing*
you put in hay for it to sleep in, a bowl of pellets, something to entertain the guinea pig, and a log house for the guinea pig to hide in. sawdust in a huch or newspaper in a cage. give it fresh fruit and vegtables, let it have a run about outside, and handle it everyday.
Newspaper should be on the floor in front of a guinea pigs cage. You can put aspen shavings on top of the paper, but it's easier to clean if the floor has newspaper on it, because you can just take all the droppings out at once.
you can add ringing toy balls in there but they don't really play with them, they like chewing stuff, so of-course don't add any foam toys, that can make them really sick, if you go to the store they have stuff for guinea pigs to play with, they can play with some bird toys like ringing bells but they have to be kind of big, not small enough to eat...hope that helps a little!
in a normal guinea pig cage guinea pigs need a hide so they can get away fom things, food bowl, water bottle, a toy and a chew toy so that they can keep ther teeth sharp and theyn need something like hey straw or newspaper to keep them warm. well, this is what i have kept in my guinea pig cage and mine is a indoor cage.
A place to hide, a food bowl, a water bottle, stuff toclimb on. Maybe a few toys.
You should have a food and water bowl wheel. Mabye some toys.
No wood chips will not hurt your guinea pig and are often put into their cages for bedding.
No. Most guinea pig cages are cat safe. If the cage is enclosed your guinea pigs should be fine. It is safest to have a latch though just in case.
eather put a wall up or seperate cages or if there bro and sis its ok or spaid or nuter i perfer you nuter cause its cheaper
go to the pet store. they have all things guinea pig there- including cages and stuff.
It depends on the size of the cage. Some cages are cheaper when they come in a guinea pig care supplies kit.My cage for my guinea pig was $50.But, then again,it was originally meant for two guinea pigs.
I prefer an already built cage over a custom cage as they do last longer. I got my last few cages guinea pig cages here http://www.petproductsbyroyal.com/rabbit-guinea-pig/
You cannot put guinea pigs in tanks because they feel trapped being surrounded by glass and also there is no where to strap on water bottles and needed equipment onto the walls of the tank. They will also become blind if you put them in an aquarium and there is little air circulation.
C & C grid cages. ITs a home pet.
yes because it provides more space from the guinea pig to roam.
Yes, you can.
No. That is torture to a guinea pig. Guinea pigs need a huge cage 7.5 feet is recommended at a minimum!
