Just saying the above line will feel a little rude. Along with this she can quote some memorable things about her daughter, how she was when young, she was caring and well mannered etc. Some prefer a small wedding speech too..

If you are family of the bride, You thank them for being there to share the day, acknowledge that they are her parents and thank them for their part in the union. You should also recognize the grooms family in the same way.

The mother of the bride goes to the church rehearsal where the wedding party practices what they should do and say and then there is generally a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner after which all members of the wedding party (including the parents of the bride and groom.)
