Tell them NO ONE is worthless. If they got this idea on their own, maybe they have not found their talent or ability or what makes them special yet. Some of us are late bloomers.
If someone else has been actively tearing down this person's self-esteem, tell them to ignore them or get away from them if they can. People who do that have no self-esteem themselves, and want others to feel as badly as they do.
EVERYONE has some worth , and a destiny on this planet, and for people of faith, beyond this life .Do your best to support and encourage this person. If they are down to the point of almost feeling suicidal, help them find a counselor or pastor or priest to talk to and guide them to a support group for people with self esteem issues.
If you are this person's friend, that in itself proves they are not worthless, because they have already attracted a caring friend.
