you use a scale to see how much something weighs like when you go shopping and you want some banana's you have to weigh them on a scale or you can use a scale for your body to see how much you weigh and see if your over weight or not

When referring to geography, scale is the difference in size between the map and the real world. For example, one inch on a map with a scale of 60,000 equals 60,000 inches in the real world, which would be a little less than a mile (there are 63,360 inches in a mile).
