If you are a Man, and it is opening night, then a tuxedo is never out of place. If it is not opening night, than I prefer the equivalent to the ladies "little black dress". Your outfit should consist of of dark slacks, a white button down oxford collared shirt, no tie, and a sport jacket of similar, yet slightly contrasting. You can also get away with Jeans as a substitute, but quality shoes are of utmost importance if you expect to fit in. I'm not a big fan of khakis at night, as it makes you look like a middle management worker.

For the ladies, well the little black dress and heels is always a winner. If your in good shape, than a short dress with a lot of leg showing is very attractive, and proper at an evening event. If you are not in shape, then a longer dress (about knee level), and a little looser, will suit you well. in any case, the higher the heel, the prettier, In my opinion. If you just CAN NOT wear a dress, for whatever reason. Just look in the mirror, when you are ready, and ask yourself one question; " Do I look like I'm headed to my office job"? If you can answer yes, then immediately change into something else.

After all.. Evening events are meant to separate work from pleasure, so try not to look like your headed to work.
