You can wear casual clothes with a horse riding helmet.
Kit Carson traveled by horse through Nevada.
The cost will depend on what type of kit you are referring to and what you need. If you mean a grooming kit, you can get by with a couple of brushes and combs for around $30, but it's better to have a larger kit, but that will cost more. For a clothing kit the price will depend on if you show or just ride for fun. You can budget several hundred dollars for a basic show outfit, less for casual riding clothes. For Tack, the better made the item, the more it will cost, but it will also last longer. Expect to budget at a bare minimum $1,000 for tack.

No. In normal leagues you wear the same kit the whole time. Only in higher level professional and national teams do you have an away strip. There are white away strips but it is not a requirement.
Before you go out into the open on your 4 legged friend you need to be able to: Control your horse (now how to ride and have a horse suitable to your ability) make sure you are confident as so is your horse (you don't want him bolting off) And use first aid kit if necessary And also know all the things that you want your horse to do (make sure you know how to gallop and jump before you attempt)
No they can't, they don't have thumbs so they can't hold the stick. You can perform a pregnancy test on a horse (not to say while riding one...well, maybe you can, but that would require some degree of coordination) by testing the urine at 38 days with a WeeFoal pregnancy kit. See Link
