Baja California's main economic activities include manufacturing industries, located in and around the cities of Tijuana, Ensenada, Mexicali and Tecate. There is also a great deal of tourism (Rosarito, Ensenada, Tijuana) and there is a significant portion of the economy dedicated to agriculture, meat packing and fishing industries.

Baja California Sur, located on the southern part of the peninsula, has tourism as the main activity, with the help of the Vizcaino Desert and Sierra La Laguna ecological preserves, as well as the Los Cabos (San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas) resort city.
