A tab can help you separate multiple pages in one window. If you're using Firefox or Chrome, this feature is available from the get go. If you're using internet Explorer, it must be version 7. There should be a + icon next to the last 'tab' in your window, this will open a new tab. They act just like different windows, but its purpose is to reduce it to just one window.
