A vehicle control module (VCM) or powertrain control modules' (PCM) electronically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) contains data essential to running the engine and transmission. The VCM/PCM stores critical preprogrammed data within the EEPROM, this data remains even if the vehicles' battery is disconnected. At power up the VCM/PCM checks the integrity of this data. If the checksum of the EEPROM does not match a predetermined value, DTC P1621 will set. The DTC will also set if the VCM/PCM is unable to correctly read or finds corrupt data from the EEPROM. GM recommends testing/replacement of the VCM/PCM using required equipment by a qualified technician for this type of VCM/PCM memory performance fault condition.
I hope this has shed some light on the matter of P1621 GM manufacturer specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
Answer: This answer was heplful but I had the same problem on my 99 cavailer and i went to the junkyard got another pcm for $50 and got it installed and reprogamed for only $174 (including taxes) that's your best way to go about it...unless you have the speacial comptuer to program the pcm to your vehcile...which is unlikely.
Trouble code P1621 means: PCM Memory Performance
P1621 - Engine control module engine immobilization input circuit malfunction
It is important to know what the problem codes of a car means. In this car P1441 means Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge and P1621 means PCM Memory Performance.
System to rich (bank 2)
traction control is off.
Sounds like you need to replace the thermostat.
Trouble code P0300 means:Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
Trouble code P0174 means: System too lean (Bank 2)
Read the book and I mean read it all!
Trouble code P0174 means: System too lean (Bank 2)
