An offering is something over and above the tithe, for those who consider the tithe obligatory, although there are different opinions among Christians as to the obligatory nature of the tithe since it is not mentioned as such in the New Testament. For some who do not believe the tithe obligatory, an offering would be another name for the tithe. In any case, an offering is an indefinite amount whereas the tithe is 10%. So there can be no answer to what the offering may be. Remember Jesus praised the poor widow who gave all she had, even though it was a ''mite'' the smallest possible coin of those days, while He was not complimentary to others who put in large amounts when their heart was not right in terms of motive. So, firstly, one's heart should be right about how to give and then any amount can be given at any time. Most importantly, as outlined in the New Testament God wants our whole heart first as a ''living sacrifice'' or offering to Him.
