F-150 means the truck is a 1/2 ton, F-250 means the truck is a 3/4 ton and F-350 means the truck is a full ton. in Chevy or GMC trucks you see the same principle but without the "F-" in stead they add a zero so 1500 is a 1/2 ton, 2500 is a 3/4 ton and 3500 is a full ton.
