You might be referring to the Norwegian word gledelig, which means pleasing. It is commonly used as a holiday greeting, for instance Gledelig jul, which more or less means Happy Christmas. It can also be used as an adjective, meaning joyful, happy, joyous, pleasing. Det var en gledelig hendelse - that was a joyful happening.
