Lady Catherine first demands to Elizabeth to tell her if she is engaged to Mr. darcy. Once Elizabeth confirmes that she is not, Lady Catherine tells her to never enter into such an engagement. Elizabeth, however, loves Mr. Darcy and accepts his proposal when he asks her to marry him the 2nd time.
Lady Catherine demands that Elizabeth refuse Mr. Darcy's proposal of marriage and promise to never enter into an engagement with him. She also commands Elizabeth to pledge not to entertain any thoughts of marrying Mr. Darcy in the future, asserting that he is intended for her own daughter, Anne.
Lady Catherine has her heart set on Darcy marrying her daughter Anne. She has heard that Darcy is going to marry Elizabeth. She visits Longbourne, where Elizabeth lives, to try to be certain there is no chance Elizabeth will marry Darcy.
In the course of the visit, Lady Catherine is quite insulting and gives Elizabeth no reason to cooperate. She demands that Elizabeth promise not to enter into an engagement with Darcy, but Elizabeth refuses. Lady Catherine is a woman who nearly always gets her way, and in this case she is being refused by a woman of no standing, from a disgraced family, and who she believes is indebted to her for her attentions.
Lady Catherine wants Darcy to marry her daughter, Anne. She is worried that Elizabeth Bennet might have attracted Darcy away from Anne, and has travelled to Longbourne to get Elizabeth to promise never to enter into an engagement with (i.e., never marry) Darcy. Elizabeth answers simply, "I will make no promise of the kind."
Lady Catherine's daughter is Anne de Bourgh. She is not particularly important as a character, except that Lady Catherine is determined that Anne will marry Darcy. Elizabeth finds her rather uninteresting. She does not act in any important way, and her character is not fleshed out at all.
