With her discoveries we learned of the half-life of radioactive materials and the natural radiation that all matter produces.

I would not say that Marie Curie Invented the Radium and Poloium, but what really happened was that Marie Curie and her Husband Pierre Curie discovered 2 radioactive elements. She named one polonium to honour her native country Poland, and the Radium.
