Harry Potter saw what his heart most desires - his family alive and standing with him. The Mirror of Erised - Erised spelled backwards is desire. In the movie, Harry only sees his parents rather than his entire family. He used the mirror to find the philosopher's stone too. Harry saw himself standing with his parents.

You can see your refection in the mirror and not in a book because,in a mirror it is so clear that when light hits the mirror and then at you when your standing in front of the mirror you can see your image. No. Nothing can bring a person back from the dead in the Harry Potter series. However, he did see them in spirt form twice. Once when his wand connected with Lord Voldemort's in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the second time when he held the resurrection stone in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He also saw them in the Mirror of Erised.
