Other cyclopes do not help Polyphemus after he is blinded by Odysseus and his men because they are not portrayed as a united community in Greek mythology. Each cyclops is depicted as individualistic and living in solitude in their own caves, so there is no sense of camaraderie or unity among them to come to Polyphemus's aid.

He gets Polyphemus drunk and tells him his name is 'Nohbdy'. When Polyphemus falls asleep, Odysseus and his men stab Polyphemus in the eye with a red-hot iron Poker. When Polyphemus screams as a result, other Cyclopes come to his rescue and ask him who is attacking him, Polyphemus tells them "Nohbdy is attacking me." So they leave him. Odysseus and his men tie themselves under Polyphemus' largest sheep so, when the gigantic stone door is removed to let the sheep into the fields, they will ride out under the sheep, escape Polyphemus' cave, and keep the sheep for themselves.

In literature, the Cyclopes pray for revenge against Odysseus for blinding Polyphemus, their brother. They invoke their father, Poseidon, for help in seeking revenge.

Why do the other cyclopes fail to help their blinded andraging brother?

This was due to Odysseus being very clever. When the Cyclops asked Odysseus what his name was - he stated that his name sounded like "nobody" so when the Cyclops' brothers asked him who blinded him he replied: "Nobody blinded me."

What did Odysseus tell Polyphemus that his name was no man how did this help him?

When Odysseus introduced himself as "No Man," he cunningly deceived Polyphemus, the Cyclops. By doing so, Odysseus made it difficult for Polyphemus to identify him later when seeking vengeance. As a result, when Odysseus and his men blinded the Cyclops and escaped, Polyphemus couldn't call out a specific name for help, allowing Odysseus to continue on his journey without immediate retribution.

What is ironic about the us of the name Nohbody by Odysseus?

The name Nohbody is ironic because when Odysseus tells Polyphemus that his name is Nohbody, Polyphemus's fellow Cyclopes would not know who to blame when he calls for help. What is an example of rhyme in The Odyssey?

An example of rhyme in The Odyssey is in Book 9, where Odysseus and his men encounter the cyclops Polyphemus. Odysseus tells the cyclops his name is "Nobody" to deceive him.
