It is the code used to identify the size and type of a tyre
P = Passenger car
235 = Width in millimetres
60 = Ratio of height to width (sometimes called aspect ratio)
r = Radial Tyre
15 = Rim diameter
p225 / 75 r 15 p235/ 75 r 15
215 65 r 15 or 205 60 r 15
Of course it can but this is not a good swap. If you wish to go to a 60 series tire then use 205/60-15.
Open the drivers door and look for an information sticker , it will show the tire size that originally came on the vehicle - for example P235 / 75 / R 15
185 60 r 15 could replace them.
they r numbers
a 255 is 10.03 inches a 235 is 9.25 inches
15 Reds on a Snooker Table
Tread is 195 mm wide. Sidewall is 60 percent of 195 mm tall. R is radial tire. 15 inch rim. H speed rating.
r=square root sign. r(6)*r(10)=r(6*10)=r(60)=2r(15)
205 65 r 15 are compatible .
My 1993 and 1995 Ford Explorer XLT models came with P235 / 75 / R 15 all terrain tires - check the sticker on the end of your drivers door to see the original tire size that came on the vehicle
