In North America (USA, Canada, etc.), 1-800 is a toll-free prefix, along with its newer siblings 1-888, 1-877, 1-866, and 1-855, plus future prefixes 1-844, 1-833, and 1-822.

In Australia and Ireland, toll-free numbers use the 1800 prefix. Many other countries use 0800 as a domestic toll-free prefix.
