Where is the brake proportioning valve on 99 chevy tahoe?

It is bolted to the side of the ABS unit. If you look over the driver side fender you will see the brake lines lead into the abs unit, but they actually screw into the proportioning valve that is bolted there with two bolts. It will have and electrical connector in the middle.

Why rotors and pads smoking?

I am going to hazard a guess and say the the calipers are bad and not retracting properly when taking you foot off of the brake pedal. could also be clogged brake hoses that connect the caliper to the brake lines that go to the proportioning valve on the master cylinder. best to have a mechanic look at this problem, It CAN start a fire.

Need help 2002 kia spectra brake proportioning valve mine was leaking got another from a junk yard for 25 bucks dealer wanted 1200 bucks for it part still leaks any suggestions?

Are you sure it's the valve that's leaking. Look very closely at the ends of the brake lines I have on occasion had one that has a very small crack in the end where it is flared.

Where is the brake proportioning valve on a 1999 dodge caravan?

look just under the driver side and in about 8 inches, can't miss it, it's got 6 lines on it, two going in and 4 going out. If ya can't find it, you shouldn't be playing around with it.

Where is proportioning valve on 1988 ford e-150?

Open the hood. Look at the master cylinder. Just to the left of the brake fluid cap and about 2 inches below the cap you will find it. There are two brake lines leaving the left side of the master cylinder. The brake line that is closet to the fire wall that goes into the master cylinder goes into a large hexagonal fitting that is connected to the master cylinder. Inside of that large fitting is the brake proportioning valve. Do you find that your brake pedal goes to the ground when you are backing up? Do you find that the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor without warning while at a stop? These may be symptoms of a bad valve, especially if you have done all sorts of work on the brakes and still have problems. My understanding is that no parts are available. Re-builders of the valves give no warranty. Any other questions re: same issue? email bob6598604@earthlink.net
