My '97 Corolla has the same problem. It's an oxygen sensor that's malfunctioning, according to the little plug-in code reader I borrowed from AutoZone. It says "bank 1 sensor 2." That means that the bad sensor is downstream from the catalytic converter, so if you want to replace it yourself, you'd have to somehow get under the car and switch the old one out with the new (this would be a lot cheaper than letting a shop do it for you). Hope you get things worked out.
The check engine code PO136 means the O2 sensor circuit malfunction
Check the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter.
You can get an electronic gizmo that reads these codes from most reputable auto parts stores for about one-third what you paid for the dealer diagnosis. It simply plugs into the vehicles data port, usually located beneath the steering wheel on the lowest part of the dash.
how to discontect the engine light on a 2001 toyota camery ?
it means you need to check the engine
The check engine light in a 2004 Toyota Tacoma can come on for many reasons. It could indicate an exhaust leak or a problem with the engine.
The easiest way to reset the 2001 Toyota check engine light is to remove the check engine light fuse. The fuse can be found in the fuse box.
Type your answer here... Hello how do you reset the check engine light on a 2003 Toyota 4runner. Thanks
To turn off the check engine light on a 1999 Toyota Camry you can disconnect the battery. This will only reset the check engine light. So if there is a persistant problem with the engine, the light is likely going to stay on. To turn off the check engine light on a 1999 Toyota Camry you can disconnect the battery. The check engine light has nothing to due with an oil change.
