Best Answer

A computer stores data on a Hard Disk Drive. It spins around very fast as a read/write head burns microscopic etches onto the disc(s). Very old computers didnt have hard disk drives. They stored their information on gigantic floppy disks. They worked pretty much the same way as a hard drive except they use magnetism. A new technology is Solid sate drive, where a device stores information electronically on small flash chips.

Binary information - the parts of the memory either take an electrical (or magnetic) charge, or they don't. The computer interprets this as data.

As long as someone programs parameters for how to handle the data, then ANY type of data can be entered into a computer.
