How do you know if fair trade farmers get paid for the fair trade product?

Well that is easy fair trade means getting a fair price so that means all fair trade items with the symbol on them were given a fair wage. If you go into say a clothing department store and you want to know whether the farmer was paid a fairly good wage go up to the counter and say "Is this fair trade?"and if they say no then say "If you go fair trade I'll buy it."

Fair trade chocolate is chocolate that is made by people who are paid well for their time and labor, as opposed to slave made chocolate, which is made by slaves, or people who are paid a very small amount for the work they do. What is fair trade colthes?

Fair trade is a concept where the initial producer (the farmer) gets a better (fair) price for his product than he would get if he sold to a middle man who makes allot of profit. The idea is that with a 'fair trade' logo on a product, the end consumer (ie you) can be confident you are making an ethical purchase knowing the farmer is making a reasonable living wage and looking after the environment of his farm. Thus Fair Trade clothes would have the raw materials (cotton) supplied by the fair method and perhaps even the fabric is made this way too.
