the main things you need to know about a horse is the sort of brushes to use on the right part of the body and how much you need to feed them. Also another thing you need to know is you need to clean there stable two times a day or more if it is realy messy. Also you need to go down to see your horse every morning and afternoon. And realy that is all the important things you need to know about a horse. A horse is for life not just for Christmas. REMEMBER that.

Some new owners have years of experience with horses, others have a place to keep a horse and very little knowledge other than the fact that they know they have always wanted a horse. Depending on their experience they need to become as knowledgeable as they can and get help determining not only what kind of horse they want but the kind of horse they need...(level of training, age, breed etc.). If possible, find a trainer or mentor who has no interest in selling or training a horse for you and ask for help.

Many new, inexperienced people buy a horse that is not suitable for their skill level and end up over faced and worried. Ultimately, they may never enjoy the horse they buy, or they get hurt, disappointed, and finally call it quits because they don't seem to be able to find the right riding partner (by this I mean horse).
