aww, :( well, im a girl so i should be able to help :)
the no. 1 reason is that, she actually doesn't like you, if you asked her out and she said that, she's not interested, if you were just talking to her and she said that then she's plain mean.
Of course, if you have a good relationship with this girl and then you asked her out it could be because, a) she's into someone else b) her friends dont like you or c) she thinks your geeky. Most girls wouldn't have the guts to say that kinda thing to a girls face, so, she probably means it...sorry dude :(
