What does a heartagram symbolize?
The "Heartagram" is the logo for the Finnish band, HIM. It was created by singer Ville Valo, and was influenced by his love of Led Zeppelin's cover symbols for the album "Four".
As far as I'm aware, the "heartagram" as it's known, doesn't hold any symbolic meaning within tattoo history. However it is the recognized symbol of a finnish band known as HIM, and the band have been noted to have said, that the heartagram "stands for the band as a whole, in it's entirity". It is in design, meant to be somewhere between a heart, and a pentagram, and the bands frontman Ville Valo has been quoted…
The Finnish band HIM doesn't have any discernible position whatever on Christianity. Like most similar bands their songs are simple stories of the woes of teenage lurve, sung very loud, while their heartagram trademark has no connection with Christian symbology, nor is intended to. (There have been some suggestions that the heartagram may be eastern, or new age, or theosophic, in origin, and has some connection with the yin/yang balance, or the ouroboros).
