a lentil is a smal round pea but not perfectly round, it is flattened. and usually brown sometimes yellow. they are about the same size as a green pea. lentils cook quickly not like other dried beans that take 3 to 4 hours. lentils are good for soup. i use them to make a veggie sloppy joe. just cook the lentils and when tender drain water and add sloppy joe sauce.

∙ 12y agoIt's really good actually. They're like a soft bean, but much better. They're also amazingly healthy, and delicious. You should try it you can get them anywhere. I recommend the brown ones. Especially with rice that's pretty good.
