Normal pistons push blocks in one single direction when powered by redstone. When they are unpowered, they retract, but the block they pushed will stay a block away from its original position. Sticky pistons push AND pull blocks.

∙ 11y agoIt pushes the block in front of it when powered. They can't push all blocks (such as fences, obsidian and flowers)
Sticky pistons push the block forward, and when depowered take the block back to its original position.
