The smaller pulley spins the supercharger faster, thus creating greater boost and therefore more horsepower. Popular "sizes" are 15%, 17% and 19% reduction. The larger percentage reduction gives a greater boost. Some mechanics do not recommend the higher percentage pulleys.

Does cars with superchargers have fuel injectors?

You can have a supercharger on a carburetored or fuel injected engine.

What is a Supercharge Engine?

An engine which is equipped with a supercharger. A supercharger is a special kind of air compressor which forces larger than normal amounts of air into an engine, allowing for the use of more fuel, thus increasing the the horsepower output of the engine. Most cars run with just air pressure around us. A Supercharger or Turbocharger is simply a pump which raises the pressure. A Supercharger is usually driven by a belt or chain and a Turbocharger is driven by exhaust gasses.

What is the difference in the 1998 grand prix gt and gtp cars?

The GTP is supercharged and the the GT is just the 3800 engine without a supercharger

Does a 1992 Buick Century have a harmonic balancer?

Yes, all cars do. It is the crankshaft pulley assembly...the biggest pulley, typically, at the very bottom of the engine.

How does the water pump in your car work?

The water pump uses the timing belt to spin the pulley on it. The pulley than propels the coolant throughout the engine. This keeps the cars engine at a moderate temperature.

What do you call the things sticking out of the hood on muscle cars?

Blower or Supercharger. The purpose of a blower is to shove more air into the engine. More air in the engine creates more horsepower.

What does a Vortech Supercharger system do?

A Vortech Supercharger system can adds extra horsepower to your engine. These are specially designed for Mustangs ranging from 1979 till present. They are also used in other high performance cars. It will make your car more powerful.

Why do small engine cars consume less fuel?

A. Because small engine cars weigh less overall than larger cars. B. Because small engine cars have small wheels which equals less rolling resistance. C. Because small engine cars are smaller in dimension, allowing them to squeeze into small spaces not accessible by larger cars, resulting in less time spent in traffic, idling and increasing average fuel consumption. D. Because statistically small engine car owners are shorter and weigh less, and have smaller families (or large families and many smaller cars).

What old American cars offered a supercharger?

Buick grand national, Studebaker,

What is the purpose of the turbocharger?

A turbocharger increases engine performance by pressurizing the air going into the engine, allowing more air and fuel to enter the engine cylinder and create more power. Exhaust gas from the engine spins a turbine. That energy is then used to compress air from the air filter and (force feed) it into the engine. It works similarly to a supercharger. A supercharger uses a drive belt connected to the engine instead of exhaust pressure. The result is increased performance but decreased fuel economy. In short, turbos make cars go faster. Significantly.

Did Mercedes Benz have a recall to replace headgaskets on the s320 models?

The only recall on the Mercedes Benz s320 was for engine drive belt pulley system. It affected cars with a 1996 Mercedes engine.

Hybrid Car Performance?

The key to hybrid car performance is the duel engine capacity. This make the gasoline engine smaller, allowing it to be much more efficient. Most cars rely on a large gasoline engine as their only power source, and the larger the gasoline engine the more problems arise. In the smaller gasoline engines found in hybrid cars, the engine requires smaller and lighter parts which reduces the number of cylinders needed to move the car.
