In this case, the obvious is symbolized by a wall. This being it's purpose and functionality as primarily a barrier against outside invasion. Other "symbolism" would be as a boundary of ownership or of the power and prosperity of the inhabitants within, which is still simply a subliminal projection of the primary symbolism, defense.
