It is done flashing codes. If that is the only message you got, there are no codes present.
The trouble codes on an 1988 Dakota are two digit codes. Code 1 does not exist.

Trouble code P0500 means:Vehicle speed sensor malfunction
Trouble code P0755 means:Shift solenoid B malfunction
Trouble code P0442 means:Evaporative emission control system leak detected (Small leak)
Trouble code PO121 means:Throttle position circuit out of range or performance problem
Scan for codes, some parts stores do it free....Advance auto.
The plug-in for a code reader on a 1990 Dodge Dakota is located under the hood along the firewall.
Trouble code P0742 means: Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Stuck On
1684 The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts
Trouble code P0743 means: Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Electrical
In the 1998 Intrepid ES, 1684 indicates a problem with the catalytic converter. It probably is the same for the 2000.
