∙ 11y agoThe body does MANY things with the oxygen you breathe. Oxygen is like vitamins for you're body. First The heart takes the oxygen and puts it in the bloodstream. Then the heart pumps the blood everywhere in you're body. Your feet,neck,hands, and the most important of all, your organs! The liver "cleans" the blood that passes through it to make sure it has no germs or anything else harmful.

∙ 12y agoOur bodies need oxygen because every single living cell in our bodies need it for energy. The oxygen travels in our blood stream from our lungs to the cells. Cells also need food for respiration.

∙ 8y agoTechnically, oxygen is used as a hydrogen receptor. It keeps the voltage down, so that the energy-creating reactions can continue. Carbon dioxide is used by the body to stimulate breathing. Although oxygen, itself, could be used (and is used) it is too slow for, e.g., mammals.
