Axle seals
That depends on what seals are leaking. The inner front axle seals will cost you over 6 hours of labor plus seals and fluid. So if your local labor rates are $100 an hour that will be over $600That depends on what seals are leaking. the problem is the axle bearing has gone bad and ruined the axle seal. the gear lube is held in the differential by the axle seals on each end.
shaft axle seals
Is it actually leaking from the axle seal or once it got warmed up did it shoot some fluid from the front differential vent hose ?
Could cause the axle seals or pinion seals to start leaking, just fill the fluid up too the fill plug on the diff and its full. Its pretty hard to over-fill it since it would spill out of the hole as you over fill it
Replace seals
The first thing that comes to mind is its overfull of oil..but since there is no real way to check the level, it should stop leaking. yes...stop leaking on its own. if you have been driving the truck in and out of mud holes, this will cause it to leak also... the differential is hot before it hits the water, then when it hits the water the sudden change in temp will cause a vacuum at the axle seals, in turn will suck water through the axle seals and Finally PUSH WATER AND OIL OUT THE VENT ON THE TOP....
You have to remove the brakes, rotors, wheel hubs, axle shafts, diff cover, and differential carrier, seals are on the inside of the axle tubes.
Could be either transmission pan Gasket, Axle Seals or torque convert seal, that's the seal that goes between torque convert and transmission.
It all depends on what part is leaking what fluid. Brake cylinder would leak brake fluid. Axle seal would leak gear oil.
Check radiator hose, leaking water pump, look for hole in radiator, leaking coolant bottle or leaking seals.
